Our R&D specialists at Rembrandtin developed the worlds first chromium-free grain-oriented (GO)coating: REMISOL EB 5320 shows very good electro-insulating properties. Furthermore, this environmentally friendly product provides a hydrolysis and corrosion resistance comparable to chromate containing solutions. This inorganic coating of class C5-G according to ASTM 976 serves as electrical insulation for grain-oriented steel, which is mainly used in the production of transformers.
With pigmentation a homogeneous appearance of the coated electrical steel can be achieved, which is from utmost importance for a high-quality transformer coating. The 1-component system can last for several months without any quality loss, making it a more environmentally friendly choice.
Transform it chromium-free
The upcoming ban on the use of chromium trioxide derivates in the European Union affects many industries. In addition to some of the prohibitions, also chromates in coatings will be banned from 2025 in the production of non-grain-oriented electrical steel. Therefore, a change to chromium-free solutions is crucial.
