WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Reporting directly to the Segment Manager, the candidate will be responsible for the R&D Laboratory dedicated to liquid coatings for industry, with a particular focus on the railway sector;
- The candidate will act as the central technical contact, coordinating activities and acting as a continuous interface between the Laboratory, Production, Sales, Technical Support, and the Group’s European plants;
- You will be the point of reference for the Railway segment in Italy, ensuring process alignment, quality, and compliance in a highly complex and regulated environment.
- The position involves high operational autonomy, significant responsibilities, and the coordination of a team of two laboratory technicians.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Laboratory management: planning, coordination, and organization of activities, ensuring efficiency and compliance with requirements;
- Technical and development activities: conducting tests, analyses, and performance testing, developing color shades and customizing products for the railway market.
- Qualification and compliance: validating processes and products according to railway regulations and customer specifications;
- Documentation and systems: preparing technical reports and managing/updating formulas in the ERP system;
- Operational support: resolving production issues and providing plant support;
- Interaction and coordination: supporting Sales and Technical Assistance and ongoing collaboration with the global R&D team and European colleagues.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Education and Background: Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent) and proven experience in liquid industrial coatings, preferably in the railway or industrial coatings sector;
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of raw materials, water-based formulations, colorimetry, rheometry, and paint production technologies; practical laboratory experience and performance testing;
- Railway Industry: Specific Railways experience and ability to interpret industry regulations and technical documentation are desirable;
- Languages and Tools: Excellent English; German is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office;
- Logistics: Residence close to the office or willingness to relocate; no travel is expected, with rare exceptions;
- Work Location: Bergamo, Lombardy, Italy.
- Work Schedule: 5/5 in-person, in the laboratory.
- Contract: National Collective Bargaining Agreement for Chemistry, permanent.
- Salary: Approximately €50,000 – €60,000, depending on experience.
