E-Coat and Powder Coatings for Zanardo

Zanardo S.p.A., one of Italy’s leading manufacturers of electrical cabinets, has strengthened its global competitiveness by combining cataphoretic dip coating (e‑coat) with powder coating—an approach that delivers exceptional corrosion protection, durability, elasticity, and flawless surface quality. At its Susegana site, the company operates one of Europe’s most advanced fully automated coating line, where both technologies are seamlessly integrated and digitally controlled.

To achieve this leap in performance, Zanardo adopted a customized epoxy e‑coat, and perfectly matched to its powder coatings. The result is a significant boost in product quality and productivity. The entire process is digitized, monitored through an Industry 4.0 platform, and connected to the company’s SAP system, giving operators real‑time guidance and full transparency across every production step.

Zanardo is the first control cabinet manufacturer in Europe to use the epoxy e-coat product developed by Kansai Paint, which guarantees mechanical impermeability, elasticity and long service life, and can also be painted over. This water-based coating, with a solvent content of 1.5%, is a more environmentally friendly alternative to conventional acrylic-based systems and enables a sharp reduction in coating waste.
