Sustainable Modernization: Eco-Friendly Innovations in Rail Transport

During the latest Rail Vehicle Conference Graz 2025, our delighted Austrian experts, Hubert Culik and Peter Kukla, shared insights into two standout modernization projects for Deutsche Bahn. These showcase projects are especially interesting because of their focus on sustainability and environmental responsibility.

One of the projects involves the redesign and repainting of 32 KISS double-decker trains to meet Deutsche Bahn standards. The second project centers on the comprehensive modernization of the ICE 1 fleet, which will be completed by 2026. The approcimately 840 vehicles are being repainted using VOC-reduced coatings to minimize emissions.
